geeky idea actually but when I'm on the road I try to grab me a free connection through wifi from time to time and check this site with my phone
so a lighter version that would be more suited for the small screen would be usefull

as said, just a geeky idea :)

Have you tried using opera mini on your cellphone? IMO it works a lot better than the default browser on the phones I have used over the years. It is possible not to download pictures, so it is pretty fast opening forums like this. I prefer the beta version of Opera Mini 4 because of the 'zoom' functionality.

More information here:

thanks for the tip, will try that
I did try some Opera but didn't like it as it didn't have a zoomfunction and I couldn't rotate the screen
the default on my N95 has these two options

will check the beta out though

Be aware that there is 2 different kind of Opera browser. Opera Mini and Opera Mobile.

I think Opera Mobile is the right choice for a phone like N95, but I am not sure.

I have a SE W810 with opera mini, which AFAIK is a 'lighter' version compared to Opera Mobile.

Phil often uses an N800, so I'll have to check on what he uses. Neither Mark or I are particularly mobile at the best of times

Well, on an N800 you don't really have the problems with the screen real estate :)
800x480 in what ... 6"? :) I want one of those ;)

I wouldn't want to hesitate a guess at what he uses such a screen for viewing

Hey, Dom, I have just seen the designer of the great iphone skin for the elforro.com forum is sharing his skin with others for free.
Main thing with a skin for mobile phones is of course that it loads fast. elforro's skin doesn't load avatar images, for instance - and probably not other images either. Which is great when on the move anyway.
elforro.com is vBulletin - I don't know how this differs from phpBB (or indeed if it does) but I have seen iPhone apps for phpBB forums, I guess all they really contain is the browsing capability and then a CSS skin? Usually "hardwired" to connect to some special forum.

You mean people actually want to have TMC follow them around? Mark and I are always trying to get away from this place!
Cheers for the information though Zix. I'll mention it to the others on the team, and see if we can sort something out!
