Ritchie Benaud cost me 5quid

Postby pault » Thu Aug 04, 2005 2:26 pm

My grumpiness seems to be getting worse ...

I've just gone out and bought a cheap radio because I can't stand for one minute longer Ritchie Benaud closely followed by Geoff Boycott's cricket commentary.

If I ever end up in purgatory it will be with those two wittering on about what they did in their boring careers with voices that the NHS could use as a cheap substitute for anaesthetic!!!!

did you see that?

Postby pault » Sun Aug 07, 2005 1:33 pm

well, shame Auzzies aren't allowed to be members - not often you get to pip one of their teams at the post ...

for those who think Cricket is boring - a win by 2 runs in a game where approximately 1,160 runs were scored in total (by both teams combined) -now that's what I call marginal!!!!!

I've had to bandage my fingernails up - and the cheap radio was well worth the effort - Richie Benaud really does do my head in.

interesting thing too - because I was watching on cable TV but listening on the radio - there was a slight time delay between the 2 - it meant that I could potter about the house and still have time to jump in front of the TV when I heard a wicket had fallen and still be in time to see it happen "live" - if that makes sense - was I in Dr Who space/time continuum territory??

Ach, leave home for a few days and see what happens. Wazzup with the cricket fixation? Nothing that a double can't cure, I hope?

Ya know, IIRC Postnuke has a "banned words" facility, normally quite unnecessary for such a friendly place as TMC. However, I can see the word "football" being added next time I have an SSH session going ......

Cricket now, that's entirely another matter ....

Ooooh, censorship... dangerous... we'll soon have people like Pault lobbying (sorry, that's the word that the French don't like :-P ) for other terms such as "doser"... "pod"... "pre-ground"... "chocolate sprinkles"... all to be outlawed... and before you know it TMC will have become a fundamentalist state rather than the idealist utopia it should be, a place where we can all be respected... irrespective of the size of our tampers or the ridges on our baskets ;-)
or age for that matter
