Scott will probably suggest that you can ship it to his technician, which is a bit of a last resort unless you are near Reading. It depends a lot on where you are based but you might want to ask a local (decent) coffee shop who services their machines.

One way or another (plus obviously some excellent work from the Mrs) we ended up with the guy who seems to work at many of the specialist coffee shops in Manchester when we couldn't get any further on Anna's last set of problems ourselves. He was excellent and it was enjoyable meeting him.

We also found out subsequently that there is a catering supplier locally who supplies Iberital machines and they may well have been worth a shout if we had not found our guy

Hi
I managed to locate a local place that supplies iberitals - their service tech is going to take a look.
Being in Norfolk limits access I think - everywhere is so far away.
Scott had a few ideas which I'm going to follow up - hopefully get her going.

An update - engineer took her away to play. Was impressed with the state of her - all original and in excellent nick :-)
Seems that the pumphead had seized possibly due to an airlock.
Have had her up and running - working as she should hip hip hooray!
Just the process to master (or should I say start with )
Thank you for all your help and input guys

The coffee is so much sweeter when you get a machine back up and running again. Enjoy! :)

Well even the watery rubbish that I produced tasted better what I've been having recently.
Long way to go! But it's coming together nicely...

Thank you all for your suggestions to help find a remedy for my problem. I have had support from an espresso repairman who has several years experience of commercial machines, he contends that the replacement boiler must also have a leak in the heat exchanger tube. I cannot accept this hence why I posted this plea for help, surely it must be something else? I have tested and substituted all the components we have discussed on this thread to no avail, I'm left wondering if it's a leaking gasket/union/coupling/valve or whatever.

I used to leave it switched on all day, my only remedy is to switch it off until i want a coffee ... then wait 20 mins for it to warm through. Bit of a nuisance but it's reduced my caffeine intake, seems to me that my beloved L'Anna is effectively SCRAP and that's so disappointing after all the time and money it's consumed ... and I can't afford to replace it!

I think you have posted your reply in the wrong thread? Isn't this the thread which contains the details of your machines issues? The thread tiles are similar.

I can't believe that the machine is reduced to scrap seeing as a new machine is in excess of £1500. Your attempts seem to have been comprehensive and it's hard to see what you may have over looked...especially given you have parts from a donor machine plus all the new parts fitted, it's really odd that the problem persists? Unfortunately I don't have any worth while suggestions, all I can do is sympathise with your frustration.

As a matter of interest do you have spare side panels from your donor machine - more specifically a right hand panel in relatively good condition (no cracks)? If so I maybe interested in buying one or both side panels.

@double_shot - oops, thank you for pointing out that I posted on the wrong thread. Regret the scrap machine I purchased didn't have any of the side panels with it, have you tried using superglue to repair the crack?

I empathise with your frustrations learning how to use the machine, it took me 6 months to get control of mine when I first bought it. The turning point for me is when Phil called in to see me when visiting his in-laws nearby, 30 mins tuition and I realised my problems were down to loading the portafilter correctly. Phil showed me how to dispense coffee to slightly overfill the basket, level the excess by stroking finger across top of basket and discarding the overfill ... then tap the portafilter lightly to settle the coffee charge, a light tamp and then fit to machine to dispense coffee. If you check the machine pressure is 9 bar, you have 14g of coffee (dbl shot) and the flowmeter is set to put 2 Fl Oz of water through it in 18-22 secs it will be good. The only parameter you then change (once machine is set) should be the coarseness of grind, adjust this until you get into the 18-22 sec range and you should be fine.

Good luck with your issues and thank you for helping with mine

@johnca,

Super glue wouldn't be a very good solution unfortunately. The side panels are looking a bit tired due to a few scuffs and one crack caused by moving the machine about to various charity event etc. It would be nice to tidy her up but it's nothing that can't be lived with.
