Right o chaps and chapesses I have now completed my review and here it is. I hope it is worth the wait.

I had a great afternoon on Wednesday Sept 9th. at Limini Coffee’s training centre in Bradford. It isn’t near to me, I live in the Stoke - on - Trent area which is about 100 miles away, but it was well worth the trip.

Limini is in a ground floor unit on an unprepossessing business park in a suburb of south-western Bradford but once through the door the contrast is outstanding. The clean, modern training facility is on the ground floor. There are several high-grade Fracino machines arranged on counters on two sides of the room (pictures on their website https://www.liminicoffee.co.uk) and a couple of little roasters on the left as you go in. There is also an assemblage of alternative brewing methods (e.g. Aeropress, siphon) to play with if you get the chance.

There were two of us on the course. I was there for my own personal gratification but the lady who was learning with me was going into business and had some previous experience. Our trainer, Ruth, had no trouble at all pitching the content to suit both of us. She was really good. There was another couple in the room with another trainer and they were on a full day course.

The afternoon’s learning started with adjusting a machine and a grinder to their ideal settings and learning to pull a shot. As this was achieved by simply pushing the right button it proves that the art and science of the shot is in the brew temperature, the shot size and time. Perfect preparation etc.

After that we moved on to steaming milk. Doing this and applying it to the range of espresso drinks took the rest of the afternoon. There was a lot to learn, we even made a start on latte art, so it is a good job that participants get access to Limini’s online training manual which contains all the afternoon’s learning in a clear and sensible form. Ruth proved herself to be an extremely capable and professional barista with a great deal of experience for one apparently so young. (Unfortunately everybody seems young to me these days!)

The pace of the afternoon was considerable but we did have time to play with the roasters in the corner and the siphon (I want one!)

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It built on my self-acquired knowledge and took it to the next level. The chance to be taught how to use a commercial machine by somebody as knowledgeable, interested and able as Ruth was invaluable. I would recommend anybody who has a serious interest in coffee to do a course like this and I would recommend that they do it at Limini.

I would like to thank publicly Ruth and the Limini team for a great experience.

Thanks for the excellent report. It's good to know that it is possible to get adequate and friendly training if one makes the effort. I wish some of the folks who serve me coffee would make that effort. Glad you had a good and profitable time.

I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

Thanks for the review. I would love to get some training and this sounds great.

I am from Bradford originally and only live 40 mins away now.

Would it be rude to ask how much it cost or is this info on the web site?

OMG

Just went to the web site........I used to live on Carr Bottom Road......what a coincidence!!!!

Can recommend Friar Tucks chippy at the end of the road and even better...Salty's at the top of St Enoch's road.

Well who would have thought that the world of specialist coffee would appear in my old stomping ground?

Will certainly have to check it out.

Tongle, if you have been on the website you will have found the costs of training. They are all laid out there.

Thanks for the recommendations for takeaway but I won't be dashing up from Stoke for fish and chips. I think they might be cold by the time I got home! (It took me four hours to get back on the day because the M6 was pretending to be a car park.)
