A polish clock!

Postby Joey » Sun Feb 13, 2005 12:55 am

Every now and again there comes down the pike a graphic so good the fresh concept blows you away.
The University of Poland science students have finally finished their digital clock they have been working on for 4 years.

Go to this site to see the results:

http://www.lares.dti.ne.jp/%7Eyugo/stor ... index.html

Wait for it to load.

This is a real clock, and it's pretty cool - THE TIME IS ACCURATE!

The time is accurate? Well it's clearly drawn from your PC's own clock by that little javascript in there so it's only as accurate as your PC's clock.

But it's certainly rather smart!

There's nothing like a web site designer for putting the dampners on your bonfire :-)

All to be said, if it does use your pc's internal clock then every seven days XP corrects the time with a spot on server of your choice (time.windows.com by default so most likely crashes rather then setting the correct time) but if you are net conected then really your computer clock will be updated whatever the OS and even if you only connect by dial up.

But really, you have to admire the design and work to create what is really a retro action used on the latest equipment. Surely it is very akin to TMC, where basic historic actions (roasting coffee aint exactly new) are achieved with the latest technology - with similar sketchy results.
Long forgotton Tech and Coffee Equipment guru.
