Starbucks Trenta is a Breakthrough in Human Obesity

Postby GreenBean » Thu Jan 20, 2011 1:00 pm

Starbucks is introducing a new cup size, the Trenta, it is 31 ounces (almost a litre) and is said to be larger than the adult human stomach!

This story is covered widely in the press today but I particularly like this take.

There is so much I like about this article but my favourite bit is:

"But have no fear….after 3 or 4 Trentas, your stomach will stretch out to accomodate the increased volume."

How could anyone resist marketing like that?

Yes, but those were snapped up for use in the somewhat smaller "Trentina" espresso shot. :P
Three Francesconi (CMA) espresso machines - Rossi, San Marco, LaCimbali, Faema and 2 Mazzer Major grinders- CoffeeTech Maggionlino, Hottop, Alpenröst and HW Precision roasters.
I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

147 shots of volume in a single bucket, I heard. A killer of an espresso .... or is that a lungo?

So far in life I have managed to avoid that most awful embarrassment that follows from noticing a bump on a friend you have not seen for a few months and telling her that you did not know she was pregnant.… you know... when she replies what do you mean I am not pregnant!

Well I am hoping my luck holds out and that this is not one of those moments. Mindful of the comment regarding the stomach stretching to accommodate several Trenta, I can not help noticing something in your avatar Cakey.

Please don't be alarmed, it is only a little something, but I wonder….. errr…. Is it possible that you have already slipped out to Starbucks and downed several Trenta for research purposes? :D
