How many grinders does a woman need?

Postby Lambo » Wed May 19, 2010 8:41 pm

'Er Indoors doesn't "do" coffee, apart from the drinking of it in copious quantities. Is it cos I is the "barrista"? Anyway, she knows how to use the filter machine but won't touch the Rocky normally and just uses pre-ground stuff when I'm working away.

She's now gone and bought THREE hand mills off Ebay - two Zass's and a KYM. Why? Wimmin...

I shall have arms the size of Arnie's by the time she's finished with me!

She reckons that they look nice (the grinders, not my/his arms), as well as being functional. She might change her mind once she's had a go with one though!

I've got 12 hand grinders. What can I say?
Three Francesconi (CMA) espresso machines - Rossi, San Marco, LaCimbali, Faema and 2 Mazzer Major grinders- CoffeeTech Maggionlino, Hottop, Alpenröst and HW Precision roasters.
I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

errr... excuse me. How many grinders does a woman need? A helluva lot more than a couple of hand grinders.

3 wall mounted hand grinders... for decoration.
4 whirly blade... for demonstration purposes... what not to buy!
2 shop grinders...
2 cimbalis, replaced now by...

2 Eurekas
and if I had the money and space that would be 30 Eurekas, 1 for every coffee in the shop!

How many does a man need?
Espresso: BFC TCI Lira.
Grinders: Eureka Mignon (2), Mahlkonig Guatemala,
Roaster: Gene Cafe.
Retired... Cimbali Junior, Cimbali Alinox.

Men don't need grinders. They use their bare hands.

duhh! stoopid me. But that explains why the grind sometimes varies.

Is it also true then that men don't need coffee brewers, grind in the hand, wet in the mouth, then just add hot water.... saves on lots of expensive equipment!

Well, you do have a slight excuse JJ, being in the business. She Who Drinks Coffee isn't and doesn't use any grinder at all - they're just decorative as far as she's concerned. I'm not sure I fall into that category though!
