Coffee plant

Postby Bombcup » Wed Apr 21, 2010 8:48 pm

I brought Kate some coffee bags back to plant spuds in. There were some green beans left in the bag so she soaked them in hot water to see if they would get going.

And get going they did, about 8 sprouts. They've just gone into compost.

cool, i was given a coffee seedling about 3 years ago, amazingly its still alive and I just repotted it for the third time. But the last couple of winters the tips of the leaves have gone brown on the bottom half of the plant. Its still getting bigger though so i must be doing something right.

what coffee are they from?

Cool, good work, sounds like something undesirable going on, do the lower leaves catch the light?

Well there was a Brasil bag containing some guat, colombia and ethiopia bags, so it's a lottery, don't now who the father is. I'll put it on the council housing list.

It could be 3 different fathers? In a few years time you could try and guess the origin, it will be like mama mia!
The young lower leaves fall off after a while normally so I wasn't concerned with them going a bit brown, but this time some of the branches have brown leaves. It doesn't get much direct light in my north facing flat but I think it was getting a bit pot bound.
I'll race you both to the first cup of coffee, I have about 3 years head start but no idea about gardening

This sounds rather alarming...although I notice from your avatar that you are green with a bean-shaped head ...
