I have been to my local ChipsAway a couple of times to fix some big scratches. Works out a lot cheaper than a full respray (they just fix the area that is damaged, not respray the whole panel), and to be honest, I can't tell the difference when it's done!

Had them in and unfortunately they can't help. Long story but there are some areas of damaged paint too big to touch-up even for them. It's not a rust issue, just paint. Matter of interest Darren, what sort of price are Chips Away?

I had two long scratches along both doors on one side - pretty nasty, a few on our street got hit at the same time. I am having to think back a way, but I'm pretty sure it was between £150 and £200 for the lot. Cheaper than a respray for both doors, I reckon (hope!)

It seems body repairs are never cheap. Have finally found a place with a decent rep that will spray the whole bonnet for £180, so time to bite the bullet.

That sounds quite reasonable. Good luck!

You weren't doing home-made crispy duck, were you Cakey?

Why was my first thought that Cakey wants to have a grinder body repainted?
Out of curiosity, what sort of car are discussing here?

Blood is a bugger to get off car paint - that's the only time I've had a bonnet re-spray done!
Wasn't human bolod though. Wifey decided to have a go at doing Chinese-style cripspy duck and hung a duck up in the garage to dry out for a few days, with a bowl underneath to catch the blood. Only trouble is it didn't catch it and guess what the duck was having above?
