3D modeling n stuff

Postby Aadje » Thu Jan 21, 2010 9:20 am

As I recently had to model and render stuff for a course I follow I picked up an interest in 3D modeling and rendering n stuff. Anyone else here?

I use Blender with Yafray, and yesterday was playing along with yafrays render settings and ended up whith stuff like this:

Bits 'n' pieces . . .

This week I am mainly saying hello to old friends

nice render, I loved learning 3D as a hobby and as a student, I would have leapt at the chance to use something like blender, its quite amazing for free software. But I spent all my time using maya and now the thought of having to use blender fills me with dread, i just cannot work out how to do anything in it. But all the software gets so complex after a while its just becoming familiar with the way it works.
I've been a 3d artist for about 5 years working on commercials for the moving picture company. I don't get to do much of my own stuff anymore, but thats not a bad thing I find it more interesting working in teams, theres just too much to learn to ever be great at everything, Although this guy does do a lot of stuff really well, heres one of the best 3d shorts i have seen in long time

http://www.vimeo.com/7809605 a short called the third and the seventh

and on the other end of the spectrum here's a gallery of some of the work that was sent to someone i used to work with, even though its old, its still funny
