Hello there,
I'm a very new member, an old user (reader) though. The story looks like this:
I got hooked up to coffee 3 years ago, bought a Gaggia 2 years ago, worked in a cafe for 6 months in Gdansk (Poland) and a month in London (UK
).
I came to London for the summer to earn some money, take it back to Poland and spend it on my MA course there so I found a temporary job at Costa (I know, I know), via agency, not to get attached too much. But since I arrived in UK, London has started growing on me and I've been literally brought down to my knees by the choice of MA courses here (as compared to my Poland univ) and - yes - I want to stay, work, study, live. So here is what I need:
surprise surprise: I need a barista position
.
I am ready to commit, no agencies, no chain cafes. I'd like a job I would like. That's not too much, is it?
As for my skills: most of my 'barista' experience comes from my own kitchen, where I worked hard on my machine with the assistance of caffeprego.pl (Polish forum equivalent)trying to achieve excellence (almost there!) Studying full-time for the past 3 years didn't leave much time for real work but this should mean that I'm good at learning. And I am. I'm also enthusiastic about quality coffee and quality customer service. I don't mean to create my covering letter here (but it seems that's exactly what I'm doing
) but most employers are more concerned about experience, not skills and commitment which is not quite fair as someone must finally give me a chance!
So... Anyone? Anything? I would be SO grateful and there would be one more person behind the machine who knows and cares what s/he's doing. Never too many, huh?
thanks for reading this
