just heard that Vincent Kompany, one of Belgium's football talents, has signed with Man City. Any views on that team?

Owned by Thaksin Shinawatra, former Thai PM. Good fan-base, excellent manager in Mark Hughes, perennial under-achievers, though looked like making serious strides forward with the owner's wealth but his assets have since been seized by the Thai authorities so the future is unknown.

Good point Geoff, they do have good local support and in a funny sort of way are not living in the shadows of local rivals Manchester United, which is quite an achievement. Like Liverpool, Birmingham and Sheffield, Manchester is a true two club city (London is a different matter entirely).

his injury record is indeed a bit sad. They called him "der Gläserne Mann" in Germany last year, the man of glass. I'm hoping he'll firm up a bit in years to come. He'll need it in the premier league.

We're loving Fellaini, all 6ft5" of him, not counting the barnet!
Tough, committed in the tackle and good on the ball.
I haven't seen a lot of Kompany playing and with the purported purchases of City this season we may never see him again! He must be excited at the thought of playing behind Kaka though!
I suspect that the club will change manager in the summer and then the players who are there now may find themsleves on the move again.
£100million is a lot of money (and that's not counting his £25million a year in wages). Apparently money really is no object!
