our new pet

Postby Jaanus » Wed Aug 06, 2008 10:46 am

Hey guys!
Just wanted to share my joy..
After much consideration and reading about the animals, we(me and my gf) finally decided to give a home to a ferret. the read on the web encouraged them as all the sources listed ferrets as great pets. My gf at first wanted a cat but i`m seriously allergic to felines, so couldn`t do that, apparently no problems with ferrets. and for the past week our new little best friend has been home.
heres a couple of pictures:

I do hope that you're handling him regularly, as I'm sure that you already know that this is essential if they are not to bite when older.
I take it that you are not using him for rabbiting?

No he is not for rabbiting, he`s a pet :)
He has a cage that is for sleeping and for the time we are not home.. otherwise he is free to roam the rooms.. he sleeps a lot and when he is awake he plays with us. Sometimes the bites are pretty painful, but with regular teaching he understands that he is not to bite humans. Starting to show improvements with the biting already..

If he's still biting, it wouldn't be the tickling that would make me stop him!

Best. Thread. Ever.

Oop North, I used to live opposite a ferret breeder...

I'd love one, when I move back into my own place. A girl, though. I've heard the boys stink... ;) :D
