The obvious fall. Now the lower part of the display won't respond to my touches any more. Do I see any tasteless correlations between my broken iPhone and some ex-girlfriends here? Ok, I want you to sing a song with me (Imagine the "Thunder kiss '65 melody"): "ass-of-the-day-dude". Louder. LOUDER. I can't here you two in Amsterdam. Now the guys from Scandinavia. "Ass-of-the-day-dude".

Thx for helping. The dude is out.

You dropped it? I was expecting something much more impressive than that, along the lines of you spilt something on it and had to lick it to clean it, resulting in it short circuiting and you getting burns on your tongue. We like stories like that around here

Hi,

I've read somewhere that the touch screen is only 25$, so it might not be so bad in the end. Of course you would probably have to buy 10000 screens to get such a good price.

Even if still on warranty I don't think that covers dropping your phone. An ensurance would, but I doubt you have that. Try to sell it on ebay advertised as 'hardly used':)

Any idea how much repair will cost?

Regards,
dsc.

Nah, sell it ebay as 'broken' - it will probably fetch more than for a working one! That's the way it seems to work for everything else :D

You most likely have caused a hardware problem, you could DFU restore it and send it back to Apple to repair but if they don't cover the repair under Warranty it could end up costing nearly as much as replacing it.

The glass outer is bonded to the digitiser and LCD, if the glass has come away from the digitiser in the portion a bit from the shock this could be why it is not responding, you could try pressing down hard near to the home bottom and see if you can then touch the screen.

Also, give this a try if you can, it may not work but worth a shot:-
