Piaggio Vans

Postby Diamond » Mon Oct 09, 2006 4:12 pm

Hello, My name is Bonnie and I am a new member. It is great to find so many people who know so much about coffee! I am looking to convert a Piaggio Ape van into a coffee van and I am looking for some advice, does anybody know much about this subject? Also, does anyone know where I could do a good Barista course in or near London? I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Bonnie and welcome and ditto AlanP and lots of luck with the van. You can plug London School of Coffee into TMC search engine and see what others have said, mostly positive stuff IIRC. Here's a quick link

I'm sure someone will be along to help you soon. Sounds like a fun project. You might look here for some information on mobile espresso bars.
Three Francesconi (CMA) espresso machines - Rossi, San Marco, LaCimbali, Faema and 2 Mazzer Major grinders- CoffeeTech Maggionlino, Hottop, Alpenröst and HW Precision roasters.
I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

Welcome Diamond,

A company I am not allowed to mention (because it could be moderated by the board) does actually do the Piaggio conversions into catering trailers and I believe coffee ones as well. They have been doing it a long time.

try this click here for a google web search that might help you out.

Prehaps you can get some advice/ideas

You wouldn't be talking about Bella Barista there by any chance would you Dave?
:P
Bonnie, you might want to check out the following threads too, as we've had a number of people looking to start up businesses recently, and there has already been lots of good advice given.

Then there are loads of posts by either Joey or Bazbean who have both set up successful businesses.

Separate company, which was the exact required answer to the question.
On a more serious note though, the smart move though would at least be for him to see what they do and how they do it....Doesn't mean he has to buy one, but he could use some of the ideas in his own project and existing Van.

Hi Bonnie - good luck with your venture.

As a much cheaper alternative to the Piaggio, you might want to consider one of these with a small trailer:

Very low running costs! :D :D
