Rocky mod...have you the bottle?

Postby GeorgeW » Mon Apr 10, 2006 5:44 pm

Not for me the glittering but superficial world of Mazzer Minis and Quickmill
Andrejas. Oh dear me no....... something much more home-spun. At last I got round to modding my Rocky's hopper. Not with the downright vulgar, plastic cut-down pop bottle so favoured by some on this forum, but with a tasteful aluminium biker's water bottle as sold by Lidl or was it Aldi.
This does make a good job when cut just level with the lid and the beans now slide sweetly down with none being held back in the hopper and no mess. Very easily cleaned too.
Who needs all of these expensive upgradings when one can achieve so much satisfaction from such a simple.......am I protesting too much?

Ahh George, it's good to see that you can put all those years worth of experience to good use....my question is this...Do you wear the lycra to help achieve the satisfaction?

BTW Can we have another Sonet please??? :)

I'd never heard of that mod before, looks worth following up on. Does the bottle just sit inside the hopper or do you somehow attach the base to prevent it rattling? Or isn't that an issue?

Steven.

It just sits in the neck of the bean thingy, feeding the beans directly to the burrs and seems quite stable. You could use tape around the neck for a tighter fit I suppose bit mine fits perfectly without this.
It does make a difference as the beans do not leave a residue and are not prone to jamming as was previously the case.
I don't claim the idea as I'm sure I've seen similar using a pop bottle.

Good mod idea George. You are becoming quite an inventor with your stethoscope and pop bottle creations :D

This is true. Once unleashed I find it difficult to restrain my creative genius.
While I agree the two inventions above are brilliant, I see them as mere steps to greater things.
Tomorrow I will begin on my Perpetual Motion machine. This is likely to take at least a week so please be patient. 8)

Nooooo no, that is my inherent and very well honed ability to talk nonsense about almost any subject  . Perhaps I should take another sabbatical and give everyone a well earned rest
