Coffee "Beer" anyone?

Postby Gouezeri » Thu Nov 03, 2005 4:57 pm

No, I have no idea either, but Nestlé seem to think they are onto a winner, having patented the stuff in most major markets... There is some more info on the process involved, here on the New Scientist website. Reminds me of one of PaulT's little foibles (chocolate on his cappas)... I like both beer and coffee, but have absolutely no desire to turn one into or flavour it with the other.... And this coming from those coffee "experts" as Nestlé... Whatever next!

It'll probably be freeze dried and contain "real beer solids" if their "coffee" is anything to go by :?

I've heard some people describe some dark beers as having coffee aroma or flavour, but this has been one of many flavours they supposedly taste in the beer. It's the same as when some wine tasters describe some wines as tasting tar, leather and tobacco. :?

This said the idea of coffee beer is not totally absurd, but I don't think anyone has started making leather or tobacco wine. And knowing it's Nestle that is fiddeling with this I shudder when thinking of the result.

But they're probably going by the thought that "there is one born every minute". It'll probably do well in the USA.

Leather tasing wine, coffee flavoured beer... Whatever next - we'll have cherry flavoured coffee if we're not careful! :D

Beer flavoured beer is fab too, but I'm training to be a grumpy old man and drinking fruit beer is a requirement of the course (as is eating hot buttered crumpets before bed and moaning about indigestion)! It has crept up on me alongside the coffee habit. Hey, I'd never dare call you anything :D - I have no roaster and you are the only thing that separates me from supermarket beans, GULP!

Well I love the Belgian geuze / lambic type stuff, although I'm sure that Raf would assure me I've never had the really good stuff.

Even further off topic, but still about the weird stuff people do with beer, I just found this:

If you drink your coffee beer whilst wearing your coffee tights you won't put on any weight
Zaffiro (sold) - Cona - AeroPress
Rocky - IRoast (I ruined it) - Hottop
Now mainly use French Press

Hmmm... coffee tights (perhaps that's what Joey's friend was referring to about caffeine being good for the legs)... but the bigger question here has to be... AlanP, why were you looking for tights?
This week, I'm mainly recovering :DAll I've got is my Aerobie AeroPress | 70's Aurora/Brugnetti HX Spring Lever | Mazzer Mini E & SJ (on loan) | Hottop | Nestor Martin (Toto) Gas Roaster | Eva Solo | Moka Pots
