fainting from the espresso...

About 20 years ago, my wife and myself went on a holiday to Greve in the Chianti region north of Firenze. We stayed at a castle called "Castello Vicchiomaggio" (a Gallo Nero Chianti producer), and would go out to eat in the plentiful good restaurants of that beautiful region. And finish with grappa (the wife in bed, me hanging onto the bar yapping away with the ragazzi). And in the morning, we'd drive off to yet another vineyard.
So, we had coffee in a small village (the one with Castelo di Amo in it). I had two black espresso. Broke out in a sweat, almost fainted. Strong stuff. Could it possibly be that I was suffering from a liver-attack? Was it the (cheap) grappa from the previous night? Or could a very strong espresso initiate a "crisis"??? I wonder...

only horses sweat!! - (men perspire and women "glow")

Apparently, coffee can make some people perspire/glow heavily (don't know if horses are partial to a shot)

a "liver-attack" sounds like a very Gallic complaint!

Best,

Paul.
