Thomsons Coffee - Glasgow

Postby midnight_storm » Wed Feb 09, 2005 10:37 am

Speaking to someone in the trade, I hear Thomsons are to close their Hope St shop. I believe the landlord wants to develop the property. If I recall my childhood they used to roast in the shop before moving to an industrial unit in the South Side. Either way they must have 25+ years history on that site.

That's too bad. I recently did a coffee walk in Antwerp, which was generally boring, but they told us that Antwerp had dozens of microroasters at one point. Now there's only two roasters left in the centre (Cuperus and Jespers). All the others have gone bankrupt or moved to industrial complexes out of town. Unfortunately, that also means that it becomes harder and harder to find any fresh coffee in town.
This week I am eagerly anticipating the first god shots from my La Spaziale machine....

La Spaziale S1, Vibiemme Domobar (retd), Mazzer Mini Electronic, Behmor 1600 230V
