Compulsory first post in clubroom?

Tell us what you think or what problems you had

I can't remember if I posted an introduction or not. I think it's easy to lose sight of the fact that when we discover TMC, many of us have realised from the supermarket shelves that there is a difference between all their bags of 'specialist' beans and ground and the jars of substitute that the the majority of the public settles for. However, we have no idea that we are barely scratching the surface and so it can be intimidating to post much at first whilst trying to orient in a vast new World we have somehow missed for years.

The best introduction we can get is the friendliness and the lack of put-downs which are such a breath of fresh air compared with boys-toys pastimes. I remain indebted to a couple of oldies here who helped me get my first equipment up and running, opened my eyes to what is possible at home, helped sort out problems, sent me coffee, sent me accessories, basically showed me that humanity had not lost it's warmth in unexpected places. Ooer  one could misinterpret that but I think you know what I mean.

My suggestion would simply be to make this post a sticky so that new folks will easily find it, learn straight away that an intro is not compulsory, it's nice, it won't be held against them if they don't and it's okay to show one's lack of knowledge, you don't get your head taken off on your coffee journey.

You still have to ask. Open registration is still disabled and will continue to be so. Nothing has changed.

I cant believe your going to make me use my 2000 post to tell you that you have too much spare time.

Lukas, you're right. I couldn't find it when I was looking for it. There seems to be two FAQs here, one default phpBB faq and one on the frontpage. You're right; it is in the FAQ, the one on the frontpage.
