Stanage Edge (!)

Postby JonEdwards » Thu Dec 02, 2010 2:45 pm

So last time I was up in Derbyshire mountain biking we came down the packhorse trail off Stanage Edge. Great descent for those who like knobbly tyres.

Anyway, at the bottom, there was a sign pointing off to the carpark, advertising coffee and cake. Being a bit sniffy about my coffee I was ready to give it a miss, but the rest of the group insisted. I couldn't believe a carpark snack wagon in the middle of nowhere would produce anything I'd remotely call coffee!

Turns out they were onto a good thing. An enterprise called "Beanabout" has a little van with a 2 group lever machine in the back, pretty damn good shots (not the best I've had, but in the same ballpark), really good service (free biscotti) and very friendly. Top stuff, and made getting up the next hill very much easier! Much kudos for still being open on a chilly day in the middle of November!

Beans came from Pollards in Sheffield so locally sourced and from the tasteof things very fresh indeed!

Impressed!
