Resurrecting a thread - I'll be in Istanbul next week (mid september), and wondered if anyone knew any good places?

And another question - is it possible to get qishr anywhere in Istanbul?

A quick search of the boards came up with this, from obrienk:

Actually, while I'm here - if anybody's ever going to Istanbul and fancies getting some coffee I can recommend a place near the Spice/Egyptian Bazaar. It was called 'Efendi' something or other, but it's along the right hand wall on the outside of the bazaar coming from the buses, near where they sell all the feta cheese and pots & pans. Finding it is half the fun & you'll smell it before you see it. The coffee just flies out of the shop & there's nothing like walking around with a packet of hot turkish coffee powder in your hand. The smell is fantastic!

Here's their site:

Anyone else ?

oh,mehmet efendi. that was cool. apparently the oldest cafe in the world situates somewhere around the hill that area. no idea though.

(a chain) kahve dunyasi which sells chocolate was quite nice. www.kahvedunyasi.com/ they serve free bowl of chocolate covered coffeebeans with coffee. fresher than the your average spot.

mostly drank chay. from the guys running around with trays. those little streetside seats are good to rest a minute.
