Octane coffee bar, Atlanta

Here's another one for the list. Octane coffee bar and lounge in Atlanta. It's on the west side of town, just beyond the Georgia Tech campus (1009-B Marietta Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30318). Very excellent drinks - baristas know what they're doing, coffee is counter culture. I had a couple of cappuccinos with great milk and art (ACF cup...)

It's a pretty laid back place, probably fairly studenty. A lot of Macs on the wifi, playing The Smiths. The coffee side of things is complemented with a bar, so you could spend a lot of time in here :-) (upper, downer, upper, downer...) Seems like they have barista competitions here on the "Thursday night throwdown".

I think I'll be back. I wasn't expecting to find somewhere like this here.

M'lissa Muckerman used to work there, and I think that Ben Helfen is still there.

I could be wrong, but I also think one of their baristas won their USBC regional.

Spent a few days in Atlanta last year, mostly hanging out at Octane. Love the place, love the people and they do a great job with the coffee too. I was sheltering in there when the weird tornado passed through the city and totally wrecked the place. Awesome!

I'll never own too many items with which to enjoy coffee.

Yes, Ben was there. All the baristas did a good job.

I ended up going back quite a few times, late in the evening and for an afternoon. The proposition is low-key (but fabulous) coffee, good beers and some cafe food during the day. No fussiness. The wifi seems a key part of it, about three quarters were tapping away. One could spend hours in there.

I haven't quite found a place this low key in London. Perhaps the rents are too high, or perhaps I need to go further east.
