Hello and welcome to TMC.
If you're used to the London coffee scene you had better give up any expectations and just hope for a drinkable cup.
One place I've been to is:
Café Art
Kapitelstraße 4
23552 Lübeck
It's been awhile and I had ice cream and a pretty good cappuccino. I think they had a LaMarzocco machine. It's a nice place to sit outside in summer.
I called a friend who lives in northern Germany and she immediately suggested:
Eiscafé Espresso
Strandstr. 115
23669 Timmendorfer Strand
Sachsen
Tel: 04503 / 889577
Call ahead as they may not be open every day in the winter.
Disclaimer: My friend is not a coffee fanatic and said she can't really judge how good the espresso is. Actually, I think I've been there, too, but can't remember the coffee at all.
Same applies to the:
Café Bar Opera
Beckergrübe 39
23552 Lübeck
Good luck and let us know if you find anything enjoyable.
Three Francesconi (CMA) espresso machines - Rossi, San Marco, LaCimbali, Faema and 2 Mazzer Major grinders- CoffeeTech Maggionlino, Hottop, Alpenröst and HW Precision roasters. I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!
