Is it actually possible to find a good shot?

A work mate of mine is going to Melbourne in the near future - I know its supposed to be a great place for coffee, but which bars are the best?

Nick, The Maling Room is supposed to be really good and has high ratings. It is part owned by CG member AndyL who previously had 'Maltitude' also in Melbourne. A bit more info here.

Edit: I x-posted Tim, sorry.

Tim, I'd strike Journal from that list.

Con lands great locations, creates amazing atmosphere, uses beautiful lever espresso machines, but then imports roasted coffee by the container-load from Romcaffe. And it ain't like fresh roasted Supreme.

I met the dude who owns Liar Liar by chance when I was in Melbourne last. Top bloke. Didn't get the chance to make it out to Hawthorn to check it out, but I've heard good things. He's got a clover, too. I think the only 2 clovers in Melbourne are with Liar Liar and BBB's.

I haven't been down under for a while, but for 'vibe' and buzz (rather than for the coffee), id check out (assuming they're still going...):

Wall 280 - Balaclava
Cafe Orange - Chapel St
Flavours of lakhoum - Richmond

While etching isn't really my favourite thing, Chris at flavours (I hope he still runs it) puts out some great art on the coffee's!

Self promotion alert!!

I've been helping to set up a cafe and roastery in Melbourne called Market Lane Coffee. We finally opened about three weeks ago and we had a couple of photos taken. Not sure, but thought some of you might like to see (even if it is on the other side of the world to most of you!!)

Anyone coming to Melbourne must check out Market Lane - Hydra, Clover, Probat, pourover, public cuppings and some of the best coffees coming into Australia.
