Lovely Flattie!

Postby leecb » Wed Nov 12, 2008 7:07 pm

Finally made it to Flat White today and boy was it worth it. Cameron made a fantastic 'flettie' for me with their "seasonal espresso blend" from SQM coffee. It was great and quite different to what I expected. Even through the milk you could taste the spiciness, chocolate and a touch of acidity as well which worked really well. He seems really happy with it and excited at the prospect of seasonal change and new coffees to work with. Unfortunately I didn't have time for a chat as I am doing a 3 day food safety supervisors course (and I will never eat anyone elses food ever ever again!!) but I will be back tiomorrow for more! Lucky you guys who frequent Soho regularly and can get your daily CuppaJoe from them, very jealous.

Hey Leigh

Been struggling to make a Flattie. Am I right in saying the Mulk isn't stretched for so long, as in not as much foam and the drink tends to be smaller? There is quite a varience here and most seem to be cappa or Lattes.

Cheers

Hey Mitty,
how's it going there- summer on the way at last I guess? At least you'll be able to "lie" in the sunshine and go that particularly attractive shade of red that you poms love to sport!
Hope the back gets well soon and you're back sitting poste haste or how you gonna do all that paperwork?!?
I know there is a wide variation in fletties, but I guess you can say they're a double in a smallish cappa size cup but without all the girly froth and nonsense on the top! So a strong latte? DOH- that makes sense!! :D 8)

flat white have a couple of little bags of SQM coffee on sale in there, its a unique blend to FW isn't it kingseven? but i also noticed today they have a milk bar branded pack too, so are they using different blends? i wanted to ask cameron about it this morning but tube delays meant i was already late for work. (but i sit down or a coffee whatever time it is!)

Hey Leigh I won't tell you how the weather is...well OK I will, summer is here . I'll have you know I actually tan bro, none of this lobster look for this ex-pat wannba kiwi!!!

I can't wait to get back to the off ramp at Ohinewai and Hampden Downs and persecute innocent speed demons. Let me know when you are next driving through  5 weeks to go :)

Ah right that makes sense, none of that European faffy girly stuff, in that case I have cracked them. I am also getting into Piccola Lattes, or should it be very small flat whites???

It is the same blend for both of them - we've just been experimenting with the labels. They each have such interesting logos it would seem a waste not to use them. We aren't really into custom blending for customers - but for a number of reasons we made an exception here.

Yesterday I began my campaign to get their cucumber water back - I used to love it when I went in there for coffee!

I can get behind that!

It was annoying to have to make it, and refill it, but great in summer.

They used to put cucumber, mint of bits of citrus fruit in the free water. It was very refreshing and at the time no one else was really doing it with coffee.
