Going to London tomorrow

Is it actually possible to find a good shot?

I'm on a weekend visit south to london hamlet and on Steve's advice I popped in to Fernandez and Wells (espresso bar) today to taste their new blend from Has Bean and it was ruddy gorgeous :D :D

On my many trips the deprived south i'd been to most of the TMC highly recommended places but this was my first visit here and i couldn't rate it highly enough. The barista who was running the place (whose name i sadly didn't get) was charming and totally engaging was keen to chat about their new and past blends. It had a more relaxed and airy feel to the place than some other bars of similar ilk and the limited but finely selected food was pure gourmet!

If you've passed this place by like i have in the past, defo check it out!

"Tapped and packed" anyone? - Heck yeah!

Great place, friendly guys and gals. Go for the Yirgacheffe through the syphon or the Columbian La Linda as an Areopress - first rate coffee!

At the risk of perpetuating a publicity stunt I'll just leave this here...

A degree of humility might not hinder their business at all. :)

It's not so much the policies, it's the patronising manner that it's presented.

It might as well just say "We're right, you're wrong. If you don't like it then get out" If I were to receive a lot of feedback that our coffee wasn't right then it would be a sign that we need to reassess what we're doing.

A message like that is, off the bat, confrontational and suggests what the response to criticism would be.

Quite a message, and an interesting ethos to business building. Two things:

Wow, they can't afford a bad shot day now!

And, it's there not their. There is no call for poor grammer ;)

I see it as very clever reverse psychology, because I think the majority of people who read that would go in and try a coffee whatever - just to see if the arrogant tone is justified - I doubt they would bother complaining if it wasn't a great coffee after all though!

I like the fact that they counter the abundance of choice some well known coffee-chains have, and are cocky enough to just to it their way; and if someone can't live with that, than this isn't the place for that person obviously.
