Report, 13th of September:

Walls painted 80%, 1st Container arrived safe, Carpenter started modeling a bar-front using old balinese doors and house fronts....
I still didn't have the time to reassemble my 3 group - but I should do it soon as I need it for training the future baristas with Lukes help.

4 of those will be at the back wall in the bar - in the drawers I'll store the differend kinds of coffee, easy to see through the glass fronts.

Joey,

I am curious about some of the non-coffee logistics you've had to endure.
I assume you went to Bali to get stuff cheaper, but how did you:
A) Find the contacts?
B) Was it hard to get the stuff back into the EU? I assume some customs people would be interested in wooden products from Asia.

Just curious, you seem to have handled all of this to perfection, how do you do it??

Got someone who did this several times, he helped me with the right contacts and gave me some good adresses - cargo, stores, what to avoid when buying furniture....
The furniture and the transportation is cheaper then buying the stuff here in Europe.
The cargo takes care about everything. But I have to say this week I am quite pi**ed because they delay my 2nd container from one day to the other. First the customs delayed it, now the train was too heavy and some waggons got uncoupled - of course mine was upon it - no problems with customs at all as there is nothing forbidden in the container - no drugs, no protected animal products, the wood they made the furniture of is from plantations - nothing wild! - and there is no customs on handycraft products. The turnovertax on imports usually has to be paid but you get it back from the finance office later. These days you don't have to do this anymore - the cargo company makes a report to them about the amount - so the money does not have to make the way from my pocket to the collection office and back to me again.

Friday, 24th of September:
The date of the opening is getting closer and I have still sooooooo much to do *clattering teeth*
Dear fellow TMC member Henk is helping me to find a Mazzer Mini E and at this point I would like to thank all of you who provided me with so many good hints and thoughts and friendly words. You will be part of my shop
Ok, back to business - the painter has finished, the bar is almost ready, the plumber did his job, the electrician mounts plugs where I did not want them, the costs are rising because some things cost more then I expected, I still have no gastronomy dishwasher cause these things cost about 1500 €, I get about 60 emails and 40 phone calls a day - but I am still happy because every day is different.
Attached a photo from the unwrapped furniture - but please bear in mind that we just took it out of the packages - no decoration yet, everything is still dirty - some things won't stay where they are now......

It's 1:35 am and I should be on my way home, but I couldn't resist making some pics and sending them to TMC.
Please excuse the crappy quality of the shots - without flash was blurred and with the flash it's a disaster, too.... we will get a professional fotographer soon.

Nasty light - looks better in real....
We covered the ugly grey ventilation pipe on the ceiling with cofee bags :-D

this blackboard was a door frame including doors, which are now at both ends of the bar. The frame I used for the board - we painted some normal wood with blackboard color. The doors themself are a nice decoration as they show naked ladies dancing ;-)

these tiny chairs are very comfortable. some likje to sit there and watch the pedestrians walking by....we are higher then ground level - so even sitting so deep you are higher then the outsiders...

You can also sit on that pillows beside the opium-table on the higher podest....
The open stone-bubble in the front will be fillled with water, a plant and a two fish soon.

last one - me in our uniform.
I have chosen safari shirts (Indiana Jones Style) with the pilot flaps on the sholders. We will soon add these little thingies (pilots have 1, 2 or up to 4 stripes there...)
with 1, 2 or 3 coffee beans.
Aprons are dark brown, trousers should be in a khaki like color....

And now we can expand our horizons and explore the world of coffee!

Greetings
Joey
