Yes, I suspect that being blown up by your own bomb (a la hoist by you own petard) would rather smart!

Have you lot not tried Petard yet, then? Of course, it is rather rare. Especially when roasted to perfection ;)

I've been to Havana.

Cocktails are fairly disappointing as is the food so don't expect too much from the coffee. We did go to a nice Middle Eastern restaurant one night which did a nice turkish style coffee. Shouldn't be too hard to find as it's the only Middle Eastern restaurant in Havana!

The food is horrible in cuba / havana. I gave up on coffee and switcht to buccanero ( the local beer)

Marion

Start at La Bodega del Medio which was apparently Ernest Hemmingway's favourite haunt - that's if you can get in!!

My experience in Havana itself is limited and doesn't involve the coffee there I am ashamed to say. It was hot the day I went and beer seemed the better option.

If it's anything like the hotel where I stayed in Varadero then, as noted before, give up and drink the beer or spice it up with a little rum.

Thanks Ed. Reading up in the old guide book, there were coffee plantations there way back when. I thought there might be a bit of a heritage, like.

I have no objections to drinking cold beer. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
