great espresso from naked PF in East London

Is it actually possible to find a good shot?

G'day,

ok so the places to visit are:

Montezumas
Climpsons
Flat White

anything else?

I will probably visit central London this weekend and the following weekends too. Anyone willing to meet in Flat White? If it's still closed we can always change the place and meet in Climpsons. Would be cool to meet some of the forum members in person:)

Cheers,
dsc.

G'day,

oh thanks Lukas:) just googled it and found out they also roast coffee. Well I might even buy something from them, unfortunately it will be pre-ground as I don't have a grinder here in the UK:|

Cheers,
dsc.

There's Bullet too, top floor of Snow and Rock near Covent G. I wasn't impressed last time I went though. Slow/poor service, quite expensive and the espresso was just ok. I'll have to check them out again though, and make sure it wasn't just an off day.

On the 'naked portafilter' discussion - we introduced this, based upon several of my ventures to NYC, and having spent time at Ninth St Espresso and Gimme! lead me to try some of their techniques back here in London.

I'm really happy with the naked portafilters, and believe that the resulting espresso shots are superior to those spending so much time in contact with (often dirty) metal. Coffee is subjective, however, but I'm happy with how it's coming up.

Glad to hear a bunch of you guys have enjoyed your visits to our shop. Make sure you introduce yourselves when you come in!

As a not infrequent visitor to FW, it's good to see you here Styles! Big fan of the naked PFs myself, you need to fit some mirrors behind the bar though and show us some porn (hmm, never thought I'd get the chance to say that around here ). You guys do a great job, but it would be fun to share in some of the spectacle of it all, show the anoraks and the naive how it all works!
As for outing myself the next time I'm in, naah much more fun to keep you on your toes

Hi

Hands up, I've only been there twice, but thats got more to do with your opening hours at both ends of the day.

Your Gibralters are lovelly though, and some lanky slightly bearded guy (possibly Aussie) pulled me a fantastic textured flatwhite on my first visit, not very strong but incredible texture.

Just one question though, how many pitta bread pizzas do you get for a fiver - surely not just one of the tiny things

I'd keep schtum too, they might throw you out. Think Styles is 'Climpson & Sons' rather than FW :)

Heh, oops!
Serves me right for skimping on my background checks when creating accounts
Definitely Climpsons, never been there though, never have any need to go to that part of town unfortunately, it would have to be a special trip. Still, judging from what other people are saying, it sounds like it is worth the visit! Cool blog too Styles.
