How about Newcastle?

Is it actually possible to find a good shot?

How about Newcastle?

Postby San_Marzano » Thu Aug 02, 2007 5:36 pm

Recently i'm spending more and more time in and around Newcastle, anybody got any suggestions in respect of good independent coffee shops?

Thanks Jon

Pumphreys coffee shop in the Grainger Market. They roast their own coffee locally and also have demonstrations by top baristers. stuartlee one of tmc's members works there (a while ago perhaps he has left).
Fracino Cherub, Eureka Zenith 65E, Cafe Gene Roaster, Aeropress, Napoletana.

Good legal support is always important! :P
Three Francesconi (CMA) espresso machines - Rossi, San Marco, LaCimbali, Faema and 2 Mazzer Major grinders- CoffeeTech Maggionlino, Hottop, Alpenröst and HW Precision roasters.
I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

Good work! If you hadn't, Cakey and I wouldn't have been able to demonstrate how clever we are! Image

It's just my arse that is smart  . Here is a question that is completely OT (apart from the OT that we already are): When Americans say smart arse, they spell it smart ass. How does that work? An arse is a buttock/orifice, whilst an ass is a (wild) donkey. Never mind that some dictionaries now reflect this misuse of the English language - it is wrong! :(

I am indeed alive and well, although my legal training has fallen to the wayside.

Some intermittantly good shots at 'Cafe Royale', graingertown (not Pumphreys by the way)

I'll pull you a decent shot at the pumphreys Showroom if your passing Blaydon. Sadly we don't have machines in the grainger market, but i'm sure we'd clean up if we did. Perhaps its something to look at. We tend not to have account in the centre of town, too many chains and high ground rents push the independants out!
