Good coffee in Den Haag?

Postby dliefbroer » Wed Oct 11, 2006 10:00 am

A colleague of mine from Italy would like to drink a good espresso in Den Haag. Anyone?

Try La Mano Maestra,Noordeinde 138b, Centrum, Den Haag.
The coffee they have is from The Golden Coffee Box, you need to have a bit of luck that whoever is making the espresso does the right thing.
Otherwise try Des Indes.

Aristarco, Rancilio MD 40, Ditting and Eureka MCI grinders, several antique roasters, a mini500/800N propane/electric Taiwanese roaster, greens all over the place...and some other unmentionables that have not been mentioned......

There's also Casa di Bella (Abeelplein) and de Zwarte Ruiter... and I agree it depends very much on who is preparing the coffee at La Mano, that also goes for Zwarte Ruiter.
Veni, Vidi, Imbibi Coffea !

How about don't go to Kaldi at all? I tried their espresso blend once, it was old and somewhat burnt.

Mobiccino is a mobile coffee service. They have a stand behind the Town hall on the side towards the railway station and they are to be found at events like North Sea Jass or Pink Pop and stuff..

They are commited to good espresso. Equiped with la Marzocco or Kees van der Westen. You might try them for a summer job...

I am in the Hague at the moment (untill the weekend) and it sounds like La Mano Maestra or Casa di Bella are the places to go to. Or have there been any additions lately, suggestions welcomed for places here or in Delft.

De Grotemarkt (adress) in The Hague.

De Waag/Zwarte Ruiter/September/Zeta. All there and all from the same owners, serve decent coffee, sometimes great.

Well, I've been to most of these places but was not impressed by the quality of the shots they served. In some cases I didn't even touch the cup and just went away after telling the barista I didn't like it and why. In other cases (like Mano, B&B) it was acceptable. I have regularly tried Kaldi her in Den Haag but never ever had a acceptable cup, last time there I made a comment to the barista about it I was told that I probably didn't know what an espresso should taste like.... no more Kaldi Den Haag for me.
