i notice you include 'of manchester' there

i'm sure you're aware the manchester shop has been gone for a while now

they are in fact based on a farm in mawdesley, lancashire which isn't too far from my house 8)

i've been planning a trip over there for quite a while but haven't got round to it yet

when i finally do i'll be sure to get a kilo or two of the rodumunho

simonp speaks highly of one or two of roberts & co blends

can't remember which or where i saw it :?

maybe simon could remind me

Sorry, I know this is an old post John... but whereabouts is Mawdesley?? I used to live in Manchester and frequented Roberts & co's little shop in the Royal Exchange... was dismayed when they disappeared... now I'm living in Todmorden and was wondering if they were near enough to me for a visit... I used to love their coffee beans...

cheers... Helena

Was in Manchester today christmas shopping with the GF.

Just a word of advice, dont bother trying any of the following for espresso -

1) Continental Market Stall on St Alberts Square (says "the small one" or "the frothy one" etc in the descriptions) The shot was only luke warm and very sour, the crema disappeared when i picked it up :( I couldnt drink it, it was grim! However, i went and got an amaretto and apple drink from another stall, was lovely :) (so i bought a bottle of it :) )

2) Cafe Nero on Market Street - Tasted kind of burnt and had no other real flavour to it, no crema really either.

3) Illy Cafe in Selfridges (the triangle) - VERY bitter and was left on the side for about a minute and a half whilst they found the milk for my girlfriends tea :(

I know I shouldn't be surprised really, but just wanted to warn any other mancunians - I really think i'm going to have to buy a Machine early next year :)

I noticed that there is a coffee company and cafe in the triangle shopping centre but I didnt have time to go in. Has anyone tried them? if so are they ok?

i don't think you'll be too disappointed but be sure to have a look for the place chris has been working as well

i think it's called pesto and you'll find it further up deansgate, opposite the sawyer's

unless i'm mistaken it's the corner of john dalton street

i haven't had chance to try it myself as yet but chris is/was running the coffee section

if that's not a guarantee of satisfaction i don't know what is :D
