Heaven is a place on Charing Cross Road

Postby nickr » Mon Jul 11, 2005 2:55 pm

It had been a quiet and boring day at work. So I decided to take a long lunch. Foils book shop is just down the road and whilst the branch of Monmoth upstair doesnt' make the best coffee in the world it was worth the walk.

I had a americano-nice but not stunning and an almond crossant. Great combination. Jazz music, a new book, coffee and a cake. Can life get better than this?

I presume you mean in Ray's (sadly no longer the shop it once was) on the first floor of Foyles? I've always meant to give it a try, the problem is there really aren't many seats (and if I'm going to pay that kind of money for a coffee, I at least want to be able to sit down -- ooh, grumpy old man coming out there) and the lure of the cd's on the other side of the room is always too much.... so I just end up spending all my pennies on cd's, before rushing home to try them with a decent cup of coffee ;-)
