Sumatran Batak

A mate brought a sample round the other night. I haven't come across this before so we dove straight in.

The grounds gave off some awesome aromas. The usual earthyness, spices and richness, but there was a surprise. I swear I could smell a blueberry type aroma just like Harrar.

In the cup (Chemex) it was very clean. Full bodied with a musty taste (Good) and pronounced spicyness akin to Cumin. But there in the cup was also this blueberry taste. Wierd as i would not expect that from a Sumartran. It is a deeply satisfying coffee. My mate was equally blown away simply stating 'wow', which just about covers it.

There was none of that 'roughness' commonly associated with Sumatrans and it was a beautifully balanced coffee.

I thik the usual suspects stock it your way ;)
