Kenya Gethumbwini AA 2009-2010

Postby toraja » Tue Jul 28, 2009 6:15 pm

Hello,

any suggestions for the Kenya Gethumbwini AA 2009-2010 Auction Lot 796 in the Behmor for filter/fp? I didn't catch the blackcurrants.

Cheers

I had an aeropress of (i believe) the 08/09 crop of Gethumbwini that Origin had roasted earlier this year. It was unbelievable - heavy blackcurrant and a sharp sweetness like a glass of really strong ribena!

We have the current crop of Geth. at the moment, but it's definitely not as good this year. You're right, it's definitely lacking the blackcurrant.

2009 - 2010 crop? Sounds like there might be some flowers and unripe beans in that one... :?

This years crop in Kenya was a very good one, though. Sometimes I find that some of the lighter Kenyans have a rhubarb flavour more than the expected blackcurrant. A good Kenyan doesn't necessary have a blackcurrant note. No roast profile will change this.
