I realised the otehr day that I have not been round here in AGES
Been really busy with work, and moving house, plus not had so much to say.
Anyway, I thought I'd resurrect an old tradition of mine just from the past just this once for the longer standing members, the "This Week's Blend" spot!
Actually I've been doing very little blending recently. I've mostly been drinking single origins or being rerally lazy and roasting pre-blends
I was getting short on green beans last week and was a little late getting my order in to the usual supplier so had to roast with some leftovers. I can't remember the exact quantities (in most cases what was left in the bag!) but about 55g Cachoeira, 80g-ish of Kalosi, 60g ish of Yemen, and topped up with Yirgacheffe to 220g total.
I would normally not roast Yemen and Kalosi with things needing a lighter roast like the Cach and Yirg, but had no choice here, so roasted a little darker than normal for Cach but lighter than normal for Yemen.
I wasn't expecting much (though I knew the beans would not clash too much) as the proporions were rather odd, but to my surprise it is very nice, particulary good woth milk where the sweetness really comes through. Also produces the best crema I have seen in a while, brick red with darker mottling. One thing I often miss from single origins is the depth and richness of crema that blends seem to bring.
Anyway just thought I'd share.
