UK's roasters signature espresso blends

Postby Rob_S » Thu Sep 18, 2008 11:32 pm

Hi all!

This is my first post in TMC, so hi everyone :D!

I've been reading CG and HB for a while, and a lot of people there talk about Black Cat, Hair Bender, Toscano, and a long list of signature blends from US roasters (I haven't tried any yet).

Is there any UK roaster offering a signature blend? The only one I'm aware of is HasBean's Espresso Blend.

Cheers!

Hi Rob and welcome to TMC :D

UK signature blends? James Gourmet Coffee has the 'Formula 6' blend that a few folks round here have spoken highly about. A bit like Intelli', HB has a few well known 'name' blends, Perfetio is well worth trying, we have it quite often and really enjoy it. Perfetio is one of Breako Boy's favourites - he'll probably be along in a bit to extol it's virtues :)

Thanks for the answers, I'm new to the UK coffee "scene" so I don't know who's who and where to get good freshly roasted coffee from.

Thanks for your recommendations :D .

WBC Espresso from Square Mile is running out fast, so try it before it goes.

Good lord, I've only just realised that it's only five days old :D

I've got through nearly 250g :o Though a lot of that's been experimentation!

FINALLY got it running perfectly through the MCAL today :) And've twigged why you love it! It might be that it's had a few more days to develop (it's still only 5 days old!) or it could be finally getting the temperature JUST right on the MCAL (which tends to need a LOT of warming up). But - yep - great stuff!

I introduced someone to espresso yesterday (new French assistant, 21yrs old, ex ballerina, etc  ) with Muchoki peaberry, and Steve's Skyberry / CoE el Portillo. All through the Zaff (frankly, less chance of f*%^ing up the extraction). Next time, I'll be offering MCALed Perfetio :) And, um, mebbes some Sumatran Decaff. And, hmmm, *thinks....*
