RM would probably have poured the wine through the letterbox along with a card stating that the empty bottles were left safely behind a gate or something!

Going down the sorting office shortly. If they don't have it in, I wonder if caffeine withdrawal can be used as a defence in court :D

Nearly broken my neck a few times getting down the stairs trying to answer door in time.

They seem to rotate posties in Glasgow. Miss the last one, cause he could fit pack with 2x250g through letter box. Sad I know.

the posties all know my obsession and can recognize the bean bags, they always fit them in when they know its a little squishable, And when i get it delivered to work i usually get a guy wander into the room and shout 'your bag of drugs is here!' technically he's right but i get some strange looks for that

I was home for the morning - but the postie dropped a 'we couldn't fit this package through your letterbox' card off, and was gone before I could catch him  And they *can* fit a bag of coffee behind my letterbox, which is what they normally do.

Can't check when it'll be at the sorting office to collect, either - they don't seem to answer the phone

I sometimes find that a morning on Sainsbury's 'Continental Blend' ["best before February 12th, 2014"] can add a little sunshine to my life. Even better, Tesco Value Pre-Ground :)

Insofar as it's a bloody good reminder of why I should never, never touch the stuff, and I appreciate Steve's beans 200 times more by the time the bag arrives on Monday

That said, at the mo I've got about 15kg of HB green beans lying around, so no shortages imminent :o

Sometimes I am so grateful that I moved across the water to Holland. It sounds like the RM has only gotten worse.

But why don't they send the beans in boxes, that fit through the letterbox. Thats what we do for small orders. For larger orders, people just have to realise that the box won't fit through the letterbox.
Espresso: BFC TCI Lira.
Grinders: Eureka Mignon (2), Mahlkonig Guatemala,
Roaster: Gene Cafe.

I know that we do send in sizes to go through letter boxs, the problem is Julie is that royal mail either decide they cant be bothered, or they screw it up to make it a challenge to get it through, a bit lie its a knock-out for postmen and women

the other problem is what size is a letter box. From my days doing paper rounds as a teenager, they come in all shapes and sizes.

Yes, there is no way to allow for the "common sense" or lack of it, of the postman concerned.

And customers should always ensure that their letterbox is big enough, or they cause themselves problems.

There is here, and I assume also in the UK, a regulation size letterbox, but many older houses have different (smaller) sizes. Including mine !!! Then of course the poor postie has to contend with draught excluders and those wire collection box thingies. It is a tough job you know. But when you have done everything right and they still screw it up... it can be very arggggghhhh.

I like the Finnish roaster I order from, sadly they don't state the roast-date, but it's always very fresh, but anyhow they send their stuff in a big box, with a used coffee-bag as padding (kinda cool) with a courier to my front door. They guy rings the bell for like half an hour even before giving up, not surprising since he works for DHL, the international part of the German post office. ^^
Current Setup:
La Pavoni Europiccola | Ascaso i-Mini | Assorted Bodum FP's | Armin Trösser Hand Grinder

Next addition:
Elektra A3

at one time, our postman was also our butcher as well as the "mayor" of my village. hehe
Now he is only the postman but still does a crappy job. Thankfully it's just a short walk for me to walk to his office (former butchery) and ask for my mail.
Its not that won't deliver the beans, it's just that he may wait until a few more letters arrive before delivering them. He even puts mail that needs to be signed for (police tickets, taxes etc) in the mailbox, no signature required!
