Beans that are bad for your mental health

Postby lukas » Fri Jul 11, 2008 1:40 pm

(sorry for the pun)

This might come as advertising, but I just can't stop thinking and talking about it! Our Walter very kindly put a bag of this in my last order:

I'm so excited! And I need a sample roaster! Awww :)
It will be a while before I can get it roasted, but I promise I'll come back and fill some tasting notes!
Lukas

This week I like my coffee luke-warm.

Looks great mate. It's not advertising as you have no vested interest in Walter's business. Please let us know how the beans are when you do try them :D

Sorry Matt, I'd share but a) 100grams is barely enough for me ;), and b) you in NZ already have access to good coffee around every corner (or so you say!) so I'm not the least sorry about you! Ha!

Anyway, I'm sure around the next corner you'll have some of the Esmeralda BoP lot, don't you? :P, and we'll all be green with envy about you!

Honestly, there actually are way more people I'd like to share this with than that sample can ever yield in liquid coffee. And I don't even know where/how to roast it yet!

He does Lukas - Matt needs no more beans :) !

There are some seriously good cafes within an hours drive of Matt

How are you planning on roasting those? Have you worked out the profile?

A profile is a little hard when you only have a hundred grams! I'll have a chat with Walter about it. For some seconds I considered using my heatgun, but I'm far too afraid to ruin it all. Can't use the stovetop thing either because it only really works well with 400g or more. So, I'll ask a few roasteries around wether they let me use their sample roaster, in exchange for a cup of the result :)

Anyway, I'm in no hurry, as I've got plenty of roasted gold from Walter too that feeds my lust for good coffee really well for the moment. I'll know more in a few weeks!

Esmerelda is best roasted using the Hunchback Bell method and cooled quickly by the rope swinging technique perfected by Quasimodo. Do not roast past Full Notre Dame.
