Just to jump back to the topic, I had this coffee in Melbourne roasted by St Ali and it was one of the best espressos I've had in a long time. Really clean, a little grape skin, sweet and then right at the bottom was sitting intensely sweet maybe peach quality. Really nice.

It can get really red grape and red apple to me sometimes, I would have loved to taste St Ali's take on it.

Wondering about the optimal roast level? Tried to roast it just a
few pops into second, but the result wasn't convincing.
And don't mix it up with milk, tried to make a cappu using the
Nyamagabe beans and it was terrible.

But I can image that it would work as an espresso somehow.

Best,

Well the Rwandan was a 50% element of the blend Stephen used in Copenhagen, and those capps seemed to score very highly. Brown sugar was the one of the descriptors that Stephen used, and a judge mentioned to me that the capps demonstrated that very well - I don't know whether that's attributable to the Nyamagabe or the El Bosque.

To be honest, I've mainly been drinking the Nyamagabe made on the cafe solo (using a grinder that produces slightly too many fines, though), and it's been great, but I'm all out. Looking forward to the GS/3 arriving at the house, putting some shots of it through.

I am all out too.
The Nyamagabe i got hold of was roasted lighter than that in the blend, so never tried it as an espresso. Did try the El Bosque though and that worked very well

How were you brewing it Gwilym, and what were you getting it out of it with your brew technique (and the lighter roast)?
This week I are feeling sleepy!

single cup filter, 25g. water not quite hitting boil.

rich body - much more than i anticipating from the lighter roast and paper filter
well rounded fruitiness - not over powering and not the red berry i was expecting.
Like jason i got a lovely intense sweet fruitiness at the bottom of the cup (though diff brewing method) probably peach/apricot type of fruit. That moment when you think "hang on is this coffee i am drinking"

would love to try Tim's cafe solo thing. Only saw one a few days ago.

For espresso we haven't been roasting as dark as 2nd, though without an Agtron I'd really struggle to communicate anything exactly. Love this coffee, will be sad to see it go.

I'm quite surprised. I ordered three bags of coffee from SQM this Monday. The coffee was roasted Monday, shipped Monday and I received it in Denmark Wednesday. Amazingly fast service.

Only problem is, that now I have to leave the coffee for a couple of days before I open it. Guess it's still too fresh! I'm looking so much forward to taske it.

Thanks for the great service Anette, Jim and Steve
