Daterra ... does it ever blonde !

Postby johnny » Thu Jul 12, 2007 10:11 am

3 points

(1) I love Has beens work ..... order it Monday afternoon and its on your desk tuesday morning ... notworthy

(2) So impressed with this blend.

First shot this morning ... didnt guestimate the grinder and was a little too fine, first shot took 35 seconds to extract, but didnt blond in that time, so I kept it going for the full 2oz - amazing taste, not a hint of bitterness

Second shot, loads better 25 seconds, again not even begining to blonde .. could these beans BE any more well behaved.

Definately my favorite coffee todate, even the colour is seriously exciting me ! .. but the taste .. now that IS my idea of a coffee

(3) Are beans male or female ? ..... do they Blond ... or Blonde ????

Just wanted to add another big up to hasbean, probably the fastest processing of anything ordered on the net. Next day delivery to Northern Ireland for less than a tenner! Some places add an extra £30 to ship over here and it takes a week longer.

Good work Steve!
And yes Daterra is lovely, but I'm loving it as a filter ATM.

I just finished a roast of it and really look forward to try it in the aeropress in a few minutes ... :)

edit: it's a bit muted (could have been the paper filter plus a bit too much ground coffee) but reminds me of full milk chocolate. Now I'm curious how it develops :)

It's starting to get un-muted but becoming smokey-freshy now. The Cimbali is heating up, let's see what she's saying :)

Well, no, it just doesn't blonde! At least not in the first 27orso seconds. This shot is easily one of the nicest I had at home yet, and I even roasted it myself!
Sooo smooth, so sweet, sweet and mouth-filling sirupy. Wow!

I think I'm going nuts. I had this really wonderful shot earlier this morning but am totally unable to reproduce it. Now it's just channeling all over the place and sour tastes. Grr! Back to filter coffee for now until I once and for all manage to really set up my machine correctly!
