Espresso blends, London

Postby odradek » Wed Apr 18, 2007 5:32 pm

I'm living in London and am looking for an excellent espresso blend, suitable for my Pavoni Pro. I don't particularly care for Monmouth's blend - a little bland and insufficient kick. Some of the Drury blends are okay, and I quite like the coffee roasted by Stanton's in Chiswick. Any other suggestions? And are there places that roast to order and then send to London within a couple of days?

Hi Odradek and welcome to TMC :D

Have a look at the resource article in the menu to the left of your screen. for a list of bean sources. You might also want to have a look at the coffee type search tool here, which will introduce you to all sorts of blends and single origin beans. They are available by mail :D

Bland? And what kinda kick are you looking for?

Some of the Drury blends are okay

Hmm, sounds as though you are looking for something dark to me.
As Mark says, check out the links, but to be honest we're in the realms of personal taste here, so without a better idea of what you are after, it is going to be hard to suggest something appropriate.

If you want dark try realcoffee.co.uk and order their Continental. The beans are almost black.

I roasted some coffee that dark when I went to see Steve and he cried when he saw what I'd done to the beans

It was your red and black helmet.
Three Francesconi (CMA) espresso machines - Rossi, San Marco, LaCimbali, Faema and 2 Mazzer Major grinders- CoffeeTech Maggionlino, Hottop, Alpenröst and HW Precision roasters.
I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!
