Yemen recommendations

Postby simonp » Tue Jan 23, 2007 12:03 am

Can anyone recommend a good Yemen around at the moment. I'm running low on the stuff I got feom Sweet Marias, and have just done a nice blend using the Canario Brazil (the best Brazilian I've tried as a SO espresso), Yemen, Iskander Tripplepick (earthy, butetry similar to a Celebes) and the Indian Peaberry Bold. Perhaps over-smooth for some, but I liked it. The Yemen adds acidity and body plus some dark tones.

Anyway, my usual source has no Yemen, so looing for recommendations as to what and where from.

mmmmmmmmm, yes.
Sorry, can only confirm the problem. It has been over a year since last I had some Yemen Mokha Sana'ani. Nice one. They have been hard to come by lately, I seem to recall that something or other happened with the crops last season.

Yemen fades very quickly so long term buys of them I find quite dangerous. Also the quality from batch to batch varies conciderably, its the only coffee I cup from the sack before buying the next.
