With Nothing. We had over 70 people leave comments for us (more than anyone else I could see) and many more votes, but not even shortlisted. All very dissapointing.

Maybe they were just after our email addresses. ;)

How much junk mail do I get from UKTV?

why don't you try contacting Rick Stein for his next 'food hero's' serise Steve, may be a better route. The UK food hero turned out to be about british produce and we don't grow much coffee here (shame they didn't mention this when they started).

I don't get any junk from UKTV (perhaps you missed the tick box?).

I configured my mail client to dump all the UKTV mail into my Spam folder. I couldn't figure why Hasbean seemed to disappear from what appeared to be a commanding lead.

Perhaps it's like when politicians offer a referendum, and then weight the voting to make sure they get the "right" answer.

I am aware that some of the 'Food Heroes' have tentative links with featured chefs already on the channel. That is not to suggest anything untoward has happened. Human nature dictates that we are drawn to what we know.

Having watched the way Gary Rhodes pompously disregarded the hard work and passion of several people because their product was 'not British enough' or 'not produced in the UK', without a decent word for their achievements, I am pleased that none of Steve's coffee was wasted on him. As Monkey quite rightly points out, if they wanted British grown food only, they were not clear enough.

In my opinion UKTV has missed out big time on the chance to programme something about the flourishing speciality coffee scene, albeit in a format other than 'UK Food Heroes'. They could see the popularity of Has Bean Coffee but seem not to have thought laterally about the potential to feature Steve and Sarah in another programme. Maybe it will turn out that UKTV are not worthy of the great man's time ........
