Lavazza Ground Coffees.

Postby Paws » Sun Apr 02, 2006 9:13 pm

I picked up a box of Lavazza Caffe Espresso today while I was shopping. Don't know why really.

Anyways, I've read the packet and it states that once opened to store in a refridgerator. I don't know about this. I've always stored my beans in jars and bottles and my ground in air-tight jars. These are all kept in a dark cool cupboard.

What d'ya all reckon?

Just need to wait and see how it tastes.

I had a look at the Lavazza website. Seems they have brought out a solid espresso thing. Looks kinda disgusting!

Well to be brutaly honest, it isn't going to be that great anyway...freshness is key...

It is a matter of choice as to keep in the fridge or not...personally I feel that removing coffee from the fridge...cold to warm...is going to degrade the beans over a period of time. Keeping grounds is really a big no no. Fresh ground coffee will start to deteriorate and be stale after a few days.

What you need to do is find a supplier who will provide fresh roasted whole beans. There are plently around. That way you are getting a quality bean, fresh roasted to your own specification. Then you only need to order what you use. You have the right idea about keeping them in airtight jars in a dark cupboard. The best idea is to use a valved bag which you can also buy from certain suppliers.

Have a look around and see what you can find. You will see and taste the difference I can promise you that!!

I keep mine in a sealable wooded box on my counter. they are rarely in there for more than 4 days before I roast some more.

Hope this is of help.

I remember getting a package of Lavazza from my well meaning mother when my first machine arrived. Oh, the horrible taste! I can still feel it twisting my taste buds into what can only be referred to as FUBAR.  (pardon the expression ;))
