Anyone for Yirgacheffe?

Postby fred25 » Tue Mar 14, 2006 6:02 pm

I've been in touch with Mercanta about a month ago and I understand they should receive some great Yirgacheffe just about now :D .

Since I'm a student and therefore eternally poor (until I get a job, that is :? ), and on the other hand a Yirgacheffe (well, Yirgacheffe - ethiopian -african in order of de-concentric circles) lover, I'm thinking of buying a whole bag to take advantage of the wholesale price.

Which also means, however, that i'll be loaded with 60 kilos of coffee, which is a bit much for one person, no matter how much coffe you drink a day ...

So i'd like to know if anyone is interested to either share some of that coffee (and the - low- cost  ) or alternatively to get some from me once i've received it from Mercanta? I'm not trying to make a profit but to recoup the cost so I think the price would be £ 4-5 a kilo + posting. If that sounds good to anyone please let me know!

Please also note that I'm not trying to undercut anyone business but just trying to be able to drink good coffee on a limited budget. If I offended anyone by making this suggestion I apologise already and shall retract it immediately!

Anyway, looking forward to get some feedback!

Cheers.

PS: I should add that when I talked to them they said that this was a GREAT Yirgacheffe, better than the one they already have in stock!

(and that I live in Manchester, as far as shipping is concerned)

Yes, I wouldn't want to buy 60 kilos of roasted coffee..... that would be one strong cup of coffee! (and give a new meaning to the term 'expresso shot') - Mercanta is a wholesaler of greens.

What would the shipping to The Netherlands be for a couple kilo's of green Yirgacheffe? If shipping is reasonable I would like to get some from/with you.

Adriaan, I think you are being chased by a rabid dog. You'll have to walk faster.

Go for the "play Aadjes avatar twice as fast" option in your Internet Options ;)

Just made myself a Yirgacheffe and at the same time made my day.

At 4-5 pounds a kilo, I IMHO think it's a lot cheaper than anywhere else!

true, about 7 euro/kilo isnt much, but with postage It'll become twice as much I think, which isn't that cheap either.

True enough.... Airmail 1kg= £ 5.59, 2kg £10.59

What really gets me is that with surface mail it costs the same to send to Europe or Australia :( .... go figure

Airmail is no option, total cost of 5Kg would be more than at my regular supplier.

What would surface shipping cost for 5Kg ?

I'm still searching, but at the moment I found a price of £20 for 5 kilos, and £23.44 for up to 10 kilos.

Delivery would be 2-3 working days approx.

(also £30 for up to 25 kilos for those interested in larger quantities!)

UPDATE:

Found services offering up to 30kgs to the Netherlands for £20. Pretty good, no? :?: :D :?:
