Months ago, I spotted a guy called Peter James of James Gourmet Coffee posting in the SCAE forums (he wanted a recommendation for a new roaster).
Being a cheeky soul, I emailed him and asked whether he would sell greens. He mailed me back promptly and indicated that he was still getting his act together but that when he'd got himself sorted out he'd mail me with some prices.
I'd all but forgotten about him when out of the blue last week an email arrived from him.
Long story short, I've been chatting away with him and he seems a really good bloke (that's two out of three roasters I've talked to who are really good blokes, the other one being of course our own Eeffoc ). I've had a look at his web site and while it's not the best site in the world he does have some very interesting stuff on there. Some of it overlaps our good friend Eeffoc, some of it is different. All of it is interesting.
Buying greens is not possible from the site at the moment, but he's selling me stuff at UKP 8.00 per kilo (plus a fixed price of UKP 3 p&p for any weight). That's quite competitive on the greens pricing, and the postage has got to be a loss maker!
I've got a kg each of Mexican Tapachula Liquid Amber, Cuban Turquino and Ethiopian Harrar coming for a trial. I was running out of Harrar anyway (and it'll be interesting to contrast it with Hill & Valley's - I prefer not to buy there any more), and the other two should be very interesting.
