Testing some little blends

Thought I might post the findings from todays espresso cupping, ten blends over 12 coffees. Had only 40 g of each blend so got no more that two shots from each, but gives me a general idea of which blends could be worth pursuing. 2 day old roasts so a bit fresh, on the Spaz at 117 boiler, 8g block in the grouphead, grinder: K30 Vario.

1)
10% Indo Mandheling
40% Braz Cachoeira Bourbon
30% Dom Rep Tipica
10% Colombia Idolos
10% Dom Rep Montana Verde

1st shot 16 sec @ 30ml. Nah. 2 stars
2nd shot 20 sec @ 35 ml. Heavy, wood, choc, low acidity, some sweetness. 3 stars

2)
10% Kenya Kiaria
20% Dom Rep Tipica
40% Braz Cach. Bourbon
10% Flores Robusta
20% Braz Lagoa Icatu

1st shot 16 sec @ 30 ml, sweet, fruity, a little bitter. Surprisingly nice, 4 stars!
2nd shot 25 sec @25 ml, lost something, woodier, flat. 2 stars

3)
50 % Braz Cach. Bourbon
40 % El Salv. Ranas
10% Flores Rob.

1st shot 23sec @ 25 ml. a little one dimensional, but nuts, sweet, low acid. 4 stars
2nd shot heavier dose 27 sec @ 25 ml. smells nicer, buttery, tastes sour and acidic. 2 stars

4)
20% colombia Siglo
20% Braz Lagoa Icatu
10% Dom Rep Tipica
20 % Dom Rep Mt. Verde
20% Cach. Bourbon
10% Kenya Kiaria

1st shot
18 sec @30ml, light dose, sharp, soury, high acid. 2 stars
2nd shot 23 sec@25ml, more complex, acidic, 3 stars

5)
10% Flores Rob
20% Mandheling
20% Yemen Sanani
20% Kenya Kiaria
30 % Colombia Siglo

1st shot, 13 sec@30 ml. not tasted
2nd shot 18 sec@ 30 ml, nice smell, fruity, blueberry, harrar-like. slight paintstripper taste. 2.5 stars.

Next 5 blends coming soon!

3 sounds yummy, have tried something simular.

Sounds like hard work :) need any help :)

40% Idolos
40% Yemen
10% Nicaragua Linda Vista
10% Kiaria

1st shot:15 sec @35ml, light dose, soury but not horrible, 3 stars
2nd shot 20 sec @ 35 ml heavier dose, still alilttle sour but earthier, wood.

7)
25% Nicaragua
25% Kiaria
25% Idolos
25% Mt. Verde

1st shot 18 sec @ 25 ml, perfume, fruity, sweet, slight bitterness, 3 1/2 stars
2nd shot 24 sec @ 25 ml, higher acidity, sharper sour, 2 stars

8)
20% Siglo
20% Tipica
20% Ranas
20% Icatu
20% Bourbon

1st shot 26 sec @ 25 ml, sweet, nutty, 5 stars and the best one
2nd shot 29 sec @ 25 ml, not as good. sharper, more bitter, something medicinal. 3 stars

9)
20% Ranas
30% Bourbon
10% tipica
20% Icatu
10 % mandheling
10% siglo

1st shot 27 sec @ 25 ml, sharp, sticky sweet, earthy. 3 stars
2nd shot 26 sec @ 25 ml, less sharp, more nuts but still sticky sweet. 2 1/2 stars

10)
25% ranas
25% bourbon
10% tipica
25% Icatu
10% Siglo
5 % Flores

1st shot 16 sec @ 30 ml, sour, woody, nuts. 2 stars
2nd shot 26 sec @ 25 ml. didn't change much, still 2 stars.


And now we have a headache.
And I feel none the wiser!
