Actually I'd say the problem with buying in small quantities is the postage cost. I forget the exact costs involved but IIRC until you go above about 20-25kg the cost for a courier remains much the same. Hence the more you buy the smaller the impact of adding the £10 or so for the delivery.
If you really want greens to pick up in person you may be able to get them at larger Whittards stores but you'll almost certainly be looking at something very generic (like "Kenya AA") where at a certain Stafford-based supplier you'll get to know which estate they came from. Whether that's important to you is a personal decision.
Since Steve told us to stop being nice I might as well mention that he still doesn't understand how to do a good dark roast, supports the wrong football team and thinks Kenyans are better than Columbians. Aside from that he does know his coffee though
